Gleam Featured in “Tutorial Tuesday” on Endless Beauty!

“It’s once again Tutorial Tuesday and for this week Endless Beauty has a tutorial to help you highlight and contour to slim down the appearance of your face. Using makeup to highlight and contour your face can also disguise flaws and highlight your best features. When I think of a perfectly highlighted and contoured face, I think Kim Kardashian who has mastered this technique.

Oval seems to be the most desirable face shape for a woman and highlighting and contouring can help chisel your face shape so that it appears oval. I tapped Emmy Award winning celebrity makeup artist Melanie Mills to find out the right way to chisel an oval face using makeup. Below is Melanie Mills’ tutorial for how to highlight and contour to create an oval face shape.”

Dr. Oz picked Melanie Mills’ Gleam as the perfect skin savior and finisher to perfect a spray tan or just to add a velvet glow to the skin, enlivening and firrning it up for bare fashions.

We lived in three colors (Mills designed the line for all women, light to deep complected) Light Gold, Rose Gold (bestseller) and Bronze Gold. All the colors can be mixed together for a unique shade.

This product was made famous on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ by Emmy award winning artist Nadege Schoenfeld, the body makeup expert on staff giving the dancers their glowing velvet finished skin that stands up to rigorous dance workouts.

It can be mixed into foundation and is used by Jennifer Lopez and many other A-list stars for that ‘lit from within’ look.  Super useful, densely pigmented, it’s a must-own for all year around.

Anya’s beauty essentials

I’ll admit it — my makeup bag is a part of me. I feel like it is one of my limbs. I know where it is at all times and feel the need to take it everywhere I go… even if I never open it.

That being said, your makeup bag doesn’t need to be overwhelming and stuffed with things you don’t really need. You just need to know the essentials.

I have been a guinea pig for tons of products and researched the best in natural, non-toxic makeup because using natural, chemical-free products is essential for your skin, body and health. So, here are my absolute favorite must-have items that are in my beauty bag with me wherever I go.

GLEAM Lip Radiance by Melanie Mills ($24)

To finish off your face, all you need is a great gloss. I used to walk around with 40 glosses until I found GLEAM Lip Radiance. It conditions the lips and provides staying power on the pout. Gleam Reviewed on TheRosySnail!

Have you heard of Melanie Mills? I have to say before I heard of her line, the name sounded SO familiar, but I couldn’t place it! Then it hit me, Melanie Mills is a famous makeup artist to the stars. She’s not just any makeup artist, she’s an Emmy Award winning artist who has over 14 years experience in the field. She’s best known for her work on Dancing with the Stars- the birth place of her Gleam line.

On top of all that, she’s a women after my own heart: “Glitter is fun and makes you feel young and sexy. And, by the way, you are never ‘too old’ for glitter.” – Melanie Mills.

I received a beautiful bag of Gleam products from their two lines, Gleam Body Radiance, and the newest line-Lip Radiance.

The first product I tried was Gleam Body Radiance.Body Radiance is an all over body makeup that applies like a lotion/bronzer but does so much more for your skin. With ingredients like Vitamin E & jojoba oils, Body Radiance nourishes your skin while providing an amazing radiance and glow wherever it is applied. Body Radiance comes in 4 shades: Light Gold, Rose Gold, Bronze Gold & Deep Gold.

I chose Rose Gold, which was the original color and is Melanie Mills’ signature Body Radiance color. Body Radiance was originally created for the show Dancing with the Stars when fake spray tan lines were being exaggerated by the camera angles. Melanie needing to come up with something that would cover up flaws and scars and provide an even skin tone, but that would also show up evenly on camera.

My picture does not do Gleam Body Radiance any justice! You can see the area on the top of my arm and my wrist where I have a nice glow and more even skin tone. I really love this for low cut tops, my legs and my arms. You can even use body radiance to highlight areas on and around your face like your jaw line, cheek bones and even as an eyeshadow.

I also got to try Gleam Lip Radiance in two colors, Naked & Uncontrollable.  Lip Radiance applies smooth and lasts all day. Each shade is super pigmented and does not even require a lip liner to keep this long wear lip color in place. It feels amazing on and comes in 7 shades.

I found both colors I received to be true to the website, which is great when you are trying to match a color to your skin tone or a dress. The less guess work when making and online purchase, the better.
With Lip Radiance, my lips felt better after I wore this lip gloss than they did before.

Overall, I really loved the Gleam line! I would buy these products again in a heart beat. I can’t wait to try more colors from both the Lip Radiance and Body Radiance collection.

Gleam: Bronze Gold Body Radiance & Uncontrollable Lip Radiance on LyssaHoney.com

Yesterday I went out to celebrate a friend’s birthday. What better excuse to use some Gleam by Melanie Mills products?!

For starters, I used the Bronze Gold Body Radiance on my legs, chest, & arms. I was beyond ecstatic once I saw the body make-up on my legs. I am a dancer that bruises easily. This make-up covered my bruises while giving me a little tan.

It did not streak, at all and gave my legs a wonderful natural looking tan. But again, the best part was how well it covered up my leg bruises! A lot of body bronzers, I feel, look too fake in colour & sometimes too cakey looking. I feel like this one was just right!!

Here’s a picture of the birthday girl & I. My lip radiance in “Uncontrollable” not only looked so pretty but it lasted all night!

Even after drinking from glasses & straws and smoking hookah, my lips still had a lot of colour & pigment on them. Very rarely do you see that with lip glosses!

I highly recommend these products! I will be doing another blog on Gleam by Melanie Mills soon featuring other colours.

Gleam featured on Fenua Beauté

I’ve been introduced to Gleam while checking out the booths at IMATS L.A ’12 and had an enjoyable chat with the local representative. She matched and swatched the brand’s renowned liquid highlighters/illuminators on my skin and being still in a phase where I want to wear as little make-up and as many tan-enhancing products as possible, I instantly fell for their “Body Radiance” line. As a follow-up, the company sent me two samples of two different colours that would help me to bring out my inner ‘gleam’.

Gleam’s Body Radiance line comes in three different sizes, four colours, retailing between $15.00 and $40.00. The formula literally smells like sun (and hence reminds me of the heat in California, which I loved), provides sheer coverage and looks like liquid gold with bronzy or rose shimmer (depending on which shade one gets).

Light Gold is an “ethereal ray, the lightest formulation of GLEAM with a pale yellow base that counteracts ruddy and reddish skin undertones. Pure creamy velvet finish for the light to medium skin tones.”

Rose Gold, Melanie Mills’ signature colour and personal favourite, is the brand’s besseller and the shade “all Dancing with the Stars celebrities and pro dancers are finished with for the camera”.

For us breakout victims, Gleam works best with tinted moisturizer, no powder and no liquid foundation. One might have to do without full coverage, but this is what it’s all about for me personally: I don’t need to wear foundation, concealer and powder to enhance my God-given beauty features, even if it that means I have to cut back on full coverage because I honestly don’t like anything better than using a bit of tinted moisturizer to even out my skin tone (and who cares if people see I have breakouts on my cheeks, that’s natural, folks!), a matte bronzer to contour my face and eventually the Gleam highlighter to give my face a glowy finish.

Gleam on Good, Bad, and Fab! – “The Next Twenty Four Hours”

I’m in Vegas this weekend again. It’s for a bachelorette party which means I’m going armed, loaded, and fully prepared for all kinds of shenanigans. Here’s a play by play of what my twenty four hours in Vegas will look like.

Saturday Morning: Last minute packing will definitely entail bringing everything but the kitchen sink. I’m hauling an armory of products to combat the dry but melty Vegas summer weather, the blazing desert sun, and a packed schedule that requires quick beauty transformations.
From left to right: 1. Gleam by Melanie Mills Body Radiance 2. Jane Iredale all natural makeup remover wash cloth 3. St. Tropez Skin Illuminator 4. Skindinavia No More Shine Makeup Finish 5. St. Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Gel 6. SK-II Facial Treatment Clear Lotion 7. Aubrey Herbal Complexion Mist 8. SG Shaping Hair Spray 9. Nasty Gals Do It Better Pins (for the bachelorette) 10. Arcona Brightening Gommage 11. Diorsnow SPF 50 White Reveal UV Shield 12. Hawaiian Tropic Lotion Sunscreen 13. Keratin Complex Volumnizing Dry Shampoo 14. Kiss Nail Dress/Wrap 15. Unite Argan Oil
Noonish: Encore Beach Club. I’m going to curl up by the pool with a good book, some milk and cookies, and doze off to the soothing sounds of Hard Rock Sofa. Umm, yeah.

Nighttime (Early): Absinthe Vegas, the provocative, stomach clinching funny, and critically acclaimed acro-cabaret variety show is one of my favs. It’s performed in the round with unobstructed sightlines and in intimate proximity of the world-class artists performing amazing feats of strength, balance, danger and unfathomable flexibility. Imagine it as Cirque du Soleil channeled through the Rocky Horror Picture Show. I saw it the last time I was in Vegas and absolutely loved it. Round two, I’m ready!

Nighttime (Late): Marquee Night Club. Ten girls, one bachelorette, total pre-wedding madness.

Sunday Morning: Coffee, my Darth Vader visor, and a pit stop to pick up Responsibility, Sensibility, and Rationality. All three were dropped off by the Zzyzx exit on our way to Vegas.

Melanie Mills’ Tips for Flawless Summer Skin on Cover Look Collection

With the summer months approaching, everyone from InStyle magazine to Dr. Oz is interested in knowing what Melanie Mills recommends for making the most of your bronzed body.

Mills won an Emmy for her work as head makeup artist of Dancing with the Stars. While she was making her dancer’s faces more glamorous, she formulated a body makeup called Gleam Body Radiance to erase imperfections while delivering a high-wattage, shimmery glow.

Part bronzer, part moisturizer and 100% luxurious, it has become a welcome addition to my list of beauty necessities. Black Eyed Peas’ singer Fergie is another fan whose gams and toned arms were glowing when she used Gleam for a recent red carpet appearance.

California girl Mills knows a thing or two about keeping her tan in top condition and she offered a few tips and hot product suggestions from her very own vanity. Instead of spending the big bucks on a basic body moisturizer, Mills goes for a trusted household name. “I’m old school – I like Keri. It’s light and it doesn’t have too much scent,” she says. “Of course, I also use Gleam Body Radiance on any exposed skin for that glow and to moisturize at the same time,” Mills says.

The botanical-based formula can be worn whether you have a tan or not – the four shades work for women of all colors, from the palest fair maidens to the deepest Ebony goddesses. You can buy Gleam Body Radiance online for $15 for 1 ounce. The Gleam collection also includes seven Lip Radiance lip glosses for $24 each, available in two tones each of red, purple and pink, along with a peachy-hued nude that complements a range of skin tones.

On the rare occasion she’s not applying Gleam, Mills says she pats her body dry post-shower, rubs baby oil all over her skin and then finishes with a thin coat of Pacifica Natural Body Butter. The brand’s moisturizers are formulated with natural ingredients like shea butter and oils of almond and safflower. The paraben-free creams come in more than 20 fragrances.

To get that beautiful bronze base hue, Mills recommends self-tanning and suggests prepping your skin with a body scrub and deep hydration treatment for a streak-proof application. In moderation, she recommends sun for its mood-boosting properties. Don’t overdo it – build your tan gradually and always apply a quality water- and sweat-proof sunscreen on exposed areas like your chest, face and neck.
